Southampton postal worker Roger Kearney is currently serving a life sentence for the 2008 murder of Paula Poolton.

Kearney was having an affair with the 40-year-old, who was found stabbed to death in the boot of her black Peugeot, parked outside Swanwick railway station in Hampshire.

(Hampshire Police/PA)

But Kearney says he is innocent – and Conviction: Murder At The Station, BBC 2′s new true crime documentary, follows a team of experts, including Louise Shorter who is the head of specialist charity Inside Justice, as they investigate alleged miscarriages of justice.

Watching #Conviction on BBC2. The possibility of reinvestigation where appropriate is so important, &following the analysis is fascinating.

It made for a compelling piece of TV, especially because it reminded everyone of the hugely popular American podcast Serial – which looked at a case of a high school senior who was murdered.

Is this basically just a visual, Serial? Very good, so far. #Conviction

Reminds me an awful lot of the Serial podcast #Conviction

This is Serial on the tellybox #Conviction

— Claire (@ccditch) September 21, 2016

Yep, everyone was gripped by the investigations in the documentary.

I'm not convinced the prosecution had a case, Inside Justice do tremendous work. #Conviction

This is we pay our licence fee, I'm halfway through watching #Conviction on @BBCTwo & it's truly gripping, irrespective of the outcome

That #Conviction : Murder at the Station on @BBCTwo was a bit good, wasn't it? Only flicked onto the channel by accident – gripped in mins!

People had so many questions about the evidence used in the case – no forensic evidence was ever found linking Kearney to the car where Poolton’s body was found.

No blood in the car? Obviously not the crime scene, come on jury, that's forensics 101. #murderatthestation

— Kathryn Cartwright (@kathryninstereo) September 21, 2016

Surely the lack of blood in a car that he allegedly stabbed her 7 times in, is more important than CCTV #Conviction #MurderAtTheSration

— Josh the bratt (@Joshbratt87) September 21, 2016

How good is #Conviction. Surely he's not guilty. Amazed that they can bang someone up on CCTV images that grainy. Could be anyone's car!

— Matt Lalor (@Matlalor) September 21, 2016

Someone seriously needs to get on with improving CCTV #conviction

— Cat Jones (@caterinajones) September 21, 2016

And they’re really intrigued for the second part of the show next week…

Although to leave us for another week hanging is just not cool #Conviction

— Emma Noble (@EmmaMNoble) September 21, 2016

Well, Conviction: Murder At The Station has me gripped, so fascinating. Can't wait til next week #murderatthestation
