Hollyoaks is getting a new look this autumn, with revamped titles and a fresh take on the theme tune.

It’s the first time in six years that Channel 4′s soap has changed up its intro and logo, and viewers will get their first look at it in tonight’s episode at 6.30pm.

Executive producer Bryan Kirkwood said: “I am thrilled with the new titles. I think they are vibrant, fun and glossy and from the first opening guitar riff feel completely Hollyoaks. It is great to see our characters in their own precincts and they will evolve as characters come and go.”

The opening titles start with village favourite Ste (Kieron Richardson) riding a carousel with his children Leah and Lucas, and also feature Holly and Zack (Amanda Clapham and Duayne Boachie) having a water fight in a hot tub.

Soap villains are included with Sienna (Anna Passey) lying on a bed of petals and Nico (Persephone Swales Dawson) standing ominously in front of a fire.

They end on long-running character Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) twirling in the moonlight in a red dress, and will adapt to add in new characters as they arrive on screen.

Producers have moved away from the previous CGI style to show scenes from filming locations around the village and set, and the theme tune refresh is a new version by A-Skillz.
