Can you believe The One Show is celebrating its 10th anniversary?
Alex Jones and Matt Baker will revisit some of The One Show’s most memorable stories as the programme celebrates its 10th anniversary.
The BBC’s daily magazine show has been running since August 2006, broadcasting around 9,000 short films over 2,000 episodes and during the course of next week the presenters will take a look back at some of those films.
Alex, 39, has co-hosted the programme since 2010 and Matt, 38, since 2011, touching on topics as far-reaching as the royal weddings and births, major sporting events and the EU referendum.
Alex praised the show’s uniqueness in covering “all the issues that matter to people across the UK”.
She said: “There is added interest when huge celebrities come on and join in the conversation about what is on the nation’s mind that day.”
Famous guests to appear on the programme’s green sofas over the years have included Taylor Swift, Will Smith, Hillary Clinton, David Cameron, David Beckham and Mick Jagger.
Matt added: “Over its ten years on air The One Show has celebrated modern Britain in all its forms, so we are excited about looking back and catching up on some of the best stories from across the country next week. Happy Birthday to The One Show!”
Charlotte Moore, the BBC’s Director of Television said: “I’m proud to have The One Show at the heart of the schedule, it celebrates the diversity of modern Britain and has been keeping viewers informed and entertained with topical features and live guests for ten years. I would like to thank Alex, Matt and the whole team for their dedication and hard work.”
Previous hosts of The One Show have included Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles, as well as part-time host Chris Evans.
