If the crazy weather during the heats session for the Olympic rowing is anything to go by, the athletes are in for some pretty challenging times ahead.

There were extremely high winds and choppy waves on the open water course – so much so that one boat capsized.

The weather conditions are awful for the rowers! #rowing #RioOlympics2016

Horrendous weather for the #Olympics2016 rowing heats lead to some interesting races so far

Already loving the #RioOlympics2016. The rowing looks like it's going to be a bit controv! #capsize #regatta

The Serbian men’s pair Milos Vasic and Nenad Bedik succumbed to the conditions and were dunked in the Lagoa during their heat. And viewers were shocked that was even possible.

Since when do Olympic rowers capsize? The conditions out there must be really tough. #Rowing #Olympics

@BBCSport How the hell can you capsize a rowing boat? Sink, yes, but capsize??

They also felt a bit worried for them about going under in that water.

There's added incentive not to capsize in the rowing e.g swallowing turds and being pulled down by bog monsters 😷 #RioOlympics2016

Got to say, Serbia, of all the lakes in all the world to capsize your rowing boat – that one in Rio is not the one #stomachpump

Well, most people were sympathetic anyway.

And the gold medal for the first rowing team to capsize goes to Serbia 🙂

However bad your day might seem – you didn't capsize in your heat at the at the #Olympics.

Luckily for them though, the Executive Committee were obviously feeling nice and ruled the duo could continue in the next round of racing anyway.
