Modern football reaches its peak as South African players dab in the middle of a game

We’ve come to accept the dab as a football celebration. It’ll never have the same charm as the Alan Shearer, one-arm raised, but hey, times change.

The in-play dab however is something that’s come a bit too soon for us.

It occurred during a Diski Challenge match between Free State Stars and Platinum Stars. With Free State 3-2 up, Langelihle Ndlovu and Pule Mmodi saw fit to break out the dance move.

It’s show-boating at its awful best, and with 20 minutes to go and a meagre one-goal advantage at the time of the first dab, it seems a bit cocky.

But then, Free State did manage to hold onto their lead, so what do we know?
