British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran is being sued for copyright infringement — again.
This time, the family of a co-writer of Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On,” says Sheeran’s hit, “Thinking Out Loud” is based on it.
Earlier this year, the pop star was sued for copying Martin Harrington and Thomas Leonard’s “Amazing” for his 2014 hit “Photograph.”
Both tracks have been among Sheeran’s biggest hits.
The current suit is being filed by the family of Ed Townsend which says the “heart” of “Let’s Get It On” is used repeatedly in “Thinking Out Loud.”
The family wants a jury trial and is seeking compensation for alleged damages. Also named in the suit are “Thinking Out Loud” co-writer Amy Wadge, the song’s producer Jake Gosling as well as Sony/ATV Music Publishing, Atlantic Records and Warner Brothers.
