Britney Spears is returning to the MTV Video Music Awards stage after nearly 10 years.

MTV confirmed the pop star will perform her latest single Make Me… at the awards ceremony on August 28 at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Her last performance at the annual awards ceremony was in 2007, and for her return she will be joined by rapper G-Eazy on stage.

The 34-year-old singer also confirmed her return to the VMAs stage with an Instagram video, which features a snake, referencing her famous 2001 performance.

Fans will never forget when Britney rocked up to the stage to sing Slave 4 U with a white python draped around her neck.

It’s fair to say it’s a moment that has gone down in pop music history, along with her 2003 performance with Madonna and Christina Aguilera, the three singers kissing on-stage.

Britney, who has won five VMAs and has been nominated 28 times, will release her new album, Glory, two days before the ceremony.

Beyonce is leading this year’s nominations with 11, followed by Adele, who earned eight nominations. They will compete for video of the year along with Kanye West, Justin Bieber and Drake.
