{"id":3272,"date":"2016-08-31T13:03:48","date_gmt":"2016-08-31T07:03:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/toptrendingnews.co\/gardeners-world-episodes-extended-to-an-hour-as-part-of-revamp\/"},"modified":"2016-08-31T20:12:36","modified_gmt":"2016-08-31T14:12:36","slug":"gardeners-world-episodes-extended-to-an-hour-as-part-of-revamp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/toptrendingnews.co\/gardeners-world-episodes-extended-to-an-hour-as-part-of-revamp\/","title":{"rendered":"Gardeners&#8217; World episodes extended to an hour as part of revamp"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p>Gardeners\u2019 World will be extended to hour-long episodes as part of a revamp under the producer responsible for the record-breaking last series of The Great British Bake Off.<\/p>\n<p> The long-running BBC Two gardening programme \u2013 fronted by Monty Don \u2013 is back this week with a number of changes, after executive producer Paolo Proto was drafted in to oversee it.<\/p>\n<p> Writing in a blog on the BBC website, Paolo said Gardeners\u2019 World will move from a 30 to 60-minute format and a range of \u201cnew strands with some new faces\u201d will be introduced.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cIt\u2019s an exciting time and one that offers a great opportunity to expand the breadth of gardening we cover,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><figure><img src=\"http:\/\/toptrendingnews.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/1431356048-6fc45cd934cd6e5e703b2a62d5fe29cf-600x390.jpg\"\/><figcaption>Monty Don (Marsha Arnold\/BBC)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p> New presenters will include \u201cgarden doctor\u201d Nick Bailey, who will be solving people\u2019s gardening issues, and Frances Tophill, who will meet people who \u201cgarden in extreme conditions\u201d. Viewers will follow garden designer Adam Frost as he moves into a new house and sets about creating the garden.<\/p>\n<p> Nick Macer will look at tropical plants and Florence Headlam will cover city gardens.<\/p>\n<p> The main presenters \u2013 Monty, Joe Swift, Rachel de Thame and Carol Klein \u2013 will all return.<\/p>\n<p><figure><img src=\"http:\/\/toptrendingnews.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/1472643896-22cb0a20b94f7894a3cc900f9f6f205a-600x378.jpg\"\/><figcaption>Rachel de Thame (Chris Ison\/PA)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p> Gardeners\u2019 World will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year and Paolo said plans are being made to ensure it is \u201can unforgettable year for gardeners and our legion of loyal viewers\u201d.<\/p>\n<p> Paolo was responsible for last year\u2019s series of The Great British Bake Off, which drew audiences of up to 15 million and was the most-watched programme of 2015.<\/p>\n<p> <em>Gardeners\u2019 World is on BBC Two on Friday.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gardeners\u2019 World will be extended to hour-long episodes as part of a revamp under the producer responsible for the record-breaking last series of The Great British Bake Off.
