Once upon a time, a guy named Ryan and a girl named Elizabeth fell in love, planned a beautiful wedding ceremony in New York city and a post-ceremony photo shoot in Central Park.

Little did they know that sweaty mid-run Tom Hanks would be a part of their happily ever after.

The Forrest Gump actor was jogging through the famous park over the weekend when he spotted the happy couple and casually jumped into their photos – dressed in a hoodie and tracksuit pants.

Of course being the legend that he is, Tom took off his hat and introduced himself before planting a kiss on the bride's hand.

Yesterday's wedding was so beautiful! Elisabeth and Ryan you planned one amazing celebration. The icing on the cake was @tomhanks stopping in Central Park to wish them congratulations. #megmillerphotography #newyork #nyc #nyminute #celebrity #brideandgroom #tomhanks #weddingdress #wedding #weddingday #blacktie #centralpark #blackandwhite #huffpostido #stylemepretty #weddinginspiration #selfie #celebritysighting

Speaking to Today, photographer Meg Miller said Tom also offered to ordain the couple, "He also said he's an ordained minister if they needed to get married right now, but they were already married”.

Tom also took a selfie with his new-found best friends and posted it to his Instagram.

Elizabeth and Ryan! Congrats and blessings! Hanx.

Of course this wasn’t the first time Hanks ended up in someone’s camera roll, in 2012 he posed with a fan in a Hollywood bar who pretended to be drunk.

What a legend.
