Leona Lewis has offered her support to Kim Kardashian after the TV star was robbed at gunpoint in Paris, adding that she was still dealing with the trauma of being attacked while meeting fans six years ago.

The Bleeding Love singer was punched in the head by a man as she signed copies of her autobiography in central London in 2009.

She posted on Twitter sympathising with Kardashian after the robbery at an exclusive private apartment building in Paris.

Leona tweeted:

Years later I'm still personally dealing with trauma after being attacked. We should be sending love to @KimKardashian it's an awful ordeal https://t.co/sGvD8QMIMv

The singer was left bruised and “shaken” when a man whose book she had signed suddenly punched her in the side of the head.

On Monday an unidentified source close to Kardashian told E! News, whose network broadcasts Keeping Up With The Kardashians, that the star feared for her life during the robbery.

“She begged for them to let her live and (said) she has babies at home … She thought they were for sure going to kill her,” the source told the channel.

Police in the French capital have described the incident as “extremely rare” and said the robbers were focused on “possessions that had been seen and noticed via social media”.

The TV star, who was attending Paris Fashion Week, was ”badly shaken but physically unharmed” after masked men dressed as police officers robbed her, her spokeswoman said.

Meanwhile, the National Rife Association – which campaigns on gun rights laws in the US – hit out over the attack, tweeting:

Wait, criminals held @KimKardashian at gunpoint in Paris? How is that possible? Does anyone know if they passed a background check first?

It's shocking that these criminals did not subject themselves to Paris' strict #guncontrol laws before committing this awful crime.
