In Cork tonight Rob Heffernan was presented with his bronze medal from the 2012 Olympics in London, writes Steve Neville.

Heffernan finished just outside the medals in the 50km race walk at London 2012, crossing the line in fourth place.

But after Russian champion Sergey Kirdyapkin tested positive in retroactive tests earlier this year he was upgraded to the bronze medal.

Tonight, Heffernan was officially presented the medal by Willie O’Brien, the Acting President of the OCI.

The ceremony took place in Cork’s City Hall with Heffernan’s family in attendance to enjoy the moment.

Congrats, Rob!
