The Grand Tour finally has a release date – Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will be back on screen on November 18.

New episodes will go out every Friday for 12 weeks, on Amazon Prime Video.

A new trailer from the show – featuring the catchline “What could possibly go wrong?” – has also been released.

It features the sound of a clock counting down the seconds and shows exotic locations and the trio driving around a race track, exclaiming “oh man!”, “that is quick” and “oh my!”

Studio audience recordings have been taking place in front of a live audience in a giant travelling tent and the first episode will feature Jeremy, James and Richard in California.

Jay Marine, vice president of Amazon Prime Video EU, said: “Customers have been desperate to find out when they can watch their favourite team back on screen, so we are very excited to announce the launch date of one of the most globally anticipated shows of 2016.

“The guys have been having a blast filming the show around the world and we can’t wait for fans to see it weekly from 18th November, only on Amazon Prime Video.”

Prime members can watch The Grand Tour via the Amazon Video app on smart TVs, streaming media players – including FireTV and FireTV Stick – Xbox, PlayStation, Wii, Wii U, on iOS and Android phones and tablets, and on the web.

It comes after Top Gear slipped in the ratings on the BBC.

Chris Evans left his “dream job” on Top Gear hours after the final episode was broadcast last month.

Jeremy was sacked by the BBC for his “unprovoked physical and verbal attack” on a Top Gear producer in March.

Meanwhile, The Sun reports that Matt Damon and Charlize Theron are among the big-hitters lined up to appear in The Grand Tour later this year.
