You can't get much more 80s than The Lost Boys- from the hair to the music, the clothing and the over the top atmospheric lighting. There are whole scenes that basically look like a music video, and plenty of attractive people, including Jason Patric and Kiefer Sutherland, wandering around in the smoke and shadows.

It's a lot of fun but painfully of its era which is more than could be said for the duo of straight to video sequels released in 2008 and 2010. The franchise seems to be one that never truly dies (like a vampire!) as another revision is in the works.

This time it's heading to TV and with some help from Rob Thomas. He's probably best known as the fellow behind Veronica Mars but we're more excited about this prospect due to his more recent work on iZombie. It doesn't have the best title but it's a really clever and fun show, working in zombie genre elements to a detective show with plenty of quips.

For The Lost Boys Thomas is taking an interesting approach with an anthology show that's set to be told over several seasons. The kickers it that there will be a central set of vampire characters who live on through seven decades, with each season covering roughly 10 years.

The show will start in 1967 and eventually cover 70 years, with the central cast remaining (unless they're turned to dust!) and locations, timelines and other non vamp characters changing.

It's a great set up and should provide a really interesting take on the way that vampires life cycles work, watching the world and loved ones grow and change and die. This is in development now and could arrive as early as next year.
