Russia's role as host of FIFA's (International Federation of Association Footballs') Confederations Cup from June 17 to July 2 and the World Cup championship in 2018 is reigniting hopes for Russian football (soccer). The last time Russia made the world's top four was 1966, when it was part of the Soviet Union.
