Rory McIlroy might have missed out on victory in a golfing major this year, but the 27-year-old has earned himself a substantial consolation prize.

The Holywood golfer landed a cool $1.5 million (€1.33m) for winning the Tour Championship, and the victory meant he also bagged the season-long points race the FedEx Cup. The prize? $10 million. That's €8.8 million, in case you were wondering.
