Matt Damon made waves when he rocked a man bun last year, and the actor has given the hairstyle another outing.
Appearing at a press event in Beijing, China, on Tuesday to promote his new Bourne film, he rocked the sassy longer extensions with aplomb as he accompanied his co-star Alicia Vikander.
While he’s usually known for rocking a clean-cut crop, it’s certainly a fetching and trendy look for the star: It caused a bit of a social media storm when he debuted it in summer 2015.
The actor even talked about it during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show last year, addressing the major hype around his locks, which he revealed were comprised of 700 hair extensions.
Matt, 45, is currently sporting the man bun for his role in his next film, The Great Wall, a fantasy drama about the making of China’s most famous landmark.
Just weeks ago, Matt appeared at AOL’s Build Speaker Series to talk about Jason Bourne, the fifth film in the popular franchise, and there he was seen with his regular short head of hair.
The Great Wall’s director Zhang Yimou recently spoke about his decision to cast the US actor in the film after he was accused of “whitewashing”.
The Great Wall is the first English-language movie by Zhang, the director of the romantic Kung Fu drama House Of Flying Daggers, and the opulent opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
“For the first time, a film deeply rooted in Chinese culture, with one of the largest Chinese casts ever assembled, is being made at tent pole scale for a world audience. I believe that is a trend that should be embraced by our industry,” Zhang said in a statement posted on Entertainment Weeklyâs website.
“Our film is not about the construction of the Great Wall. Matt Damon is not playing a role that was originally conceived for a Chinese actor. The arrival of his character in our story is an important plot point,” he was quoted as saying.
Zhang added that actors portraying the filmâs other four “major heroes” are Chinese.
Meanwhile, Matt is in China to promote Jason Bourne, in which he reprises his leading role for the fourth time.
