Pope Francis criticized world leaders Monday for dragging their feet in showing "concrete will" to enforce climate change agreements. Francis spoke at a Vatican conference of top scientists. “The distraction or delay in implementing global agreements on the environment shows that politics has become submissive to a technology and economy which seeks profit above all else,” he said. He said while there have been some “praiseworthy exceptions” to leaders failing to fight climate change, he verbally attacked those who keep denying that human activity is causing the planet to heat up. “The ease with which well founded scientific opinion about the state of our planet is disregarded,” Francis lamented. Although the pope did not mention any world leaders by name, U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has called global warming a "Chinese-created hoax." Trump has threatened to pull the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Change Agreement.
