Lady Gaga’s comeback single Perfect Illusion has failed to make it into the top 10 in the Official Singles Charts, while The Chainsmokers have held on to the number-one spot for the third week running.
Lady Gaga unveiled her track last Friday to great fanfare and the single was holding strong at number four in the mid-week charts, which would have given the singer her first UK top-10 single for three years.
But Perfect Illusion has landed at number 12 having slipped down the charts over the past few days, despite being this week’s highest new entry.
The track is the debut single from her fifth studio album Joanne, which is on sale from October 21.

Closer, the collaboration between US duo The Chainsmokers and singer Halsey, has remained in the top spot after fending off competition from DJ Snake and Justin Bieber’s Let Me Love You, which has stuck at number two.
The rest of the top five is comprised of Major Lazer’s Cold Water at number three and Calum Scott’s Dancing On My Own at number four.
The Greatest by Sia and Kendrick Lamar is at number five after climbing 44 places in the charts in one week.
Meanwhile, British indie pop rockers Bastille are celebrating as their second album Wild World has gone straight in at number one in the Official Album Chart.
This follows the success of their chart-topping debut album Bad Blood in 2013.
Bastille told OfficialCharts.com: “This feels very surreal. Obviously it’s amazing! This album has been a real labour of love for us… making it has been the one constant through all the madness of the last couple of years.”
The group fended off competition from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ 16th studio album Skeleton Tree, which has become the group’s fourth top-10 hit and their highest-charting release.
The Beatles have landed their 32nd top-five album with Live At The Hollywood Bowl, which is at number three, and US rocker Meat Loaf’s Braver Than We Are has gone straight into the fourth spot.
Last week’s album chart-topper – Cartwheels by UK country music duo Ward Thomas – has dropped to number five.
