Sandi Toksvig has insisted she is not aiming to be a Stephen Fry “mini-me” as she prepares to take over as QI host.

Stephen quit the show at the end of last year after 13 years as presenter.

Writer and broadcaster Sandi, who described it as her “dream job”, will become the first female host of a mainstream television comedy panel show.

Sandi told The Guardian she was “not here as a mini-me for Stephen”.

“You have to make it your own,” she added.

The show’s 14th series begins on BBC2 in the autumn
