Alan Shearer joked that the people of Newcastle have made a statue for Mo Farah after he celebrated a hat-trick of Great North Run wins.
Farah won for the third consecutive time on the famous half marathon and in his final strides he mimed kicking a ball, and he copied the former Newcastle United number 9′s trademark goal celebration.
A statue to the Premier League’s record scorer will be unveiled outside St James’s Park on Monday, and Shearer joked on Twitter that the covered-up sculpture was actually for the double Olympic gold winner.
Love it @Mo_Farah! Apparently they've already built a statue of you to commemorate your hat-trick! ð #GreatNorthRun pic.twitter.com/g7Oy7Hu5MS

After the race Farah said: “That celebration was for Shearer, I think he is a legend.
“I thought for the amount of people who come out here and give me the support, let’s give them something back. Even though I’m a massive Arsenal fan, there was a load of Geordies here.
“He’s one of the greatest players ever.”
Mo completed the race with his wife Tania.
