Spanish international goalkeeper Victor Valdes has won three Champions Leagues, a World Cup and a European Championship amongst other successes – and now he plays for Middlesbrough and is launching a dating app.

The 34-year-old, fresh from his first clean sheet for The Boro in Sunday’s draw with Arsenal, announced on Twitter that he is releasing the app for people too shy to strike up a conversation with strangers they’re attracted to.
In a post on his Twitter account, the former Manchester United goalkeeper took us through his new app, called Hola! – read on if your Spanish isn’t quite up to scratch.
How the app works is by getting people to “say hola” to attractive strangers, by showing said handsome person their Hola! screen – in turn allowing them to strike up a conversation.
“Here I’m on the app and the system says ‘Hola’ and gives me a brown-orange colour,” said Valdes. “The system is giving me a completely random colour. Then I show this message to the person I want to start a conversation with and that person can search for me and my profile thanks to the colour I’ve shown them. So then, we can start a conversation in a private channel.”
“We think that in the dating world, you can feel attracted to someone on the bus, the metro, in a cafe, or in a college or club but you don’t necessarily have the courage to approach them and break the ice,” said Valdes. “Therefore you need this app.”
You can’t argue with that salesmanship. The app is available now.
