The Native American celebration known as a pow wow is typically a day-long event of singing, dancing, socializing and playing traditional games. The Narragansett tribe word “pow wow,” means “spiritual leader." But in popular American culture it has come to mean any gathering of Native Americans, though such use is considered offensive.
