Riyad Mahrez’s deft touch put Leicester within reach of the Champions League knockout stages with a 1-0 victory over FC Copenhagen at the King Power Stadium.

And Kasper Schmeichel saved from Andreas Cornelius in the 90th minute as the Foxes ended Copenhagen’s 23-match unbeaten run, which included eight Champions League matches, and extended the visitors’ winless record in England to five matches.

Claudio Ranieri’s side top Group G with a maximum nine points ahead of a trip to Denmark in the fourth round of matches, where their place in the last 16 could be secured.

Here are all the highlights from the game:

Mahrez has scored for Leicester. Who cares about the Premier League? 😬

With Leicester 1-0 up, Copenhagen crafted an opening in the 90th minute.

Federico Santander crossed from the left and Cornelius fired towards goal.

But Schmeichel made a fine save from point-blank range to ensure Leicester maintained their 100% start and are still to concede in the competition.

Mahrez, Danny Simpson and Islam Slimani were restored to the Foxes’ starting XI after being rested for last Saturday’s loss at Chelsea.

Andy King was promoted to start, with Daniel Amartey dropping out.

4 – Riyad Mahrez has been directly involved in four of Leicester's five Champions League goals this season (three goals, one assist). Vital.

Ten of the starting line-up won the Premier League last term – Slimani the exception – as Ranieri went with his trusted charges. His faith was rewarded.

Star man

It’s got to be Danny Drinkwater.

He has been consistently good during the Premier League champions’ poor start to the campaign, the midfielder again led by example against Copenhagen and continually broke up the visitors’ forays forward and set the tempo for the Foxes on the ball.
