Kubo and the Two Strings is out in cinemas right now, and we're going to go ahead and say that it's one of the best films of the year.

Partly that's down to the extraordinary stop motion work by Laika, who also made Coraline and ParaNorman. You can see a little of the effort which goes into creating these scenes in this long behind the scenes video, creating a world a frame at a time.

Stick around til the end for a glimpse of some of the voice cast, including Charlize Theron and Matthew McConaughey at work.

Voice work is pretty darn weird, but McConaughey is a riot in the film.

It's amazing to see just how much was constructed practically, though Laika also isn't afraid to expand the scope of the film with strong CGI, creating an epic that pretty much boggles the mind.

Go see it in cinemas across Ireland now!
