Kanye West performances now almost always come with a speech, and his Saint Pablo tour has so far been no different.

Standing on his floating stage, Ye let the words flow again – this time on the importance of loving yourself.

Opening with a statement reminiscent of Tupac’s on Changes, Kanye went on to say: “It starts off with self-love. We have to love ourselves before we can love anybody else. The media, from day one… teach you not to love yourself. They take something out of you. And try to sell it back to you.”

He continued: “The greatest gift you have is your now. It’s the only thing that’s promised,” before adding, to the crowd’s laughter, “that’s why I love you so much. Because everybody knows I love me so much”. Take in the full thing here.

The speech seemed to contrast with the song he performed before hand, Runaway, but what would Kanye be without a few contradictions?

Ye is only a few performances into his tour, with the next stops in New York coinciding with New York Fashion Week – where the Chicago native is expected to drop his much anticipated Yeezy Season 4.
