Justin Bieber continues to dominate the UK Singles Charts with two tracks fighting for the top spot
Justin Bieber looks set to continue his command over the UK Singles Charts.
Major Lazer’s hit Cold Water, on which Bieber features along with singer MO, could be knocked off the top spot on the UK Singles Chart this week by another track featuring the Canadian pop star, the Official Charts Company said.
He also sings on DJ Snake’s Let Me Love You, which is putting the current No.1 at risk with its debut at No.2 in the Official Chart Update following its release on Friday.
Justin’s recent domination of the UK Singles charts started almost three weeks ago when Cold Water knocked Drake’s One Dance off the top spot.
This ended the rapper’s 15-week reign and stopped him from equalling Bryan Adams’ 1991 chart record for the most consecutive weeks at the top of the charts.
US electronic act Major Lazer also face competition from Calum Scott’s Dancing On My Own at No.3, Jonas Blue’s Perfect Strangers at No.4 and Chainsmokers’ Don’t Let Me Down at No.5.
Another success story is rapper Lil Wayne, whose track Sucker For Pain with Wiz Khalifa has climbed 26 places from last week to No.39.
This could result in the US rapper scoring his 19th UK Top 40 single.
On the Official Albums Chart, newcomers Blossoms may see their debut self-titled album hit the No.1 spot this week.
The Stockport-based indie rockers have a lead of just over 7,000 combined sales at the halfway stage of the week following the record’s release on Friday.
Blossoms will have to fend off competition from London rapper Giggs, who has gone straight into the second spot on the albums chart with his new record Landlord.
Viola Beach, who had last week’s No.1 album with their posthumous debut, have fallen to No.3 in the mid-week charts.
