Keira Knightley has reportedly landed a leading role in Disney’s forthcoming live action movie, The Nutcracker.

According to Variety, the British actress will play the Sugar Plum Fairy in the big-screen adaptation of Peter Tchaikovsky’s classic ballet, adapted from E.T.A. Hoffmann’s story The Nutcracker And The Mouse King.

Keira, 31, has already appeared in some rather famous Disney films, as she played Elizabeth Swann in three of the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies.

Others reportedly cast in the film include Hollywood veteran Morgan Freeman, ballet dancer Misty Copeland and Mackenzie Foy, who is best known for appearing in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 and Interstellar.

The film’s full title is set to be The Nutcracker And The Four Realms, and will be directed by Chocolat’s Lasse Hallstrom.

Later, when the clock strikes midnight, Clara is sent into a mesmerising fantasy world, caught between a war of gingerbread soldiers and mice.

Keira’s part in the film may see her have to perform the beloved ballet great, The Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy.

The British star’s last movie role was in Everest in 2015, and she also appears in drama Collateral Beauty, which is out in December 2016.
