EastEnders could soon be losing one of its favourite baddies as Aunt Babe is apparently due to exit the soap.
Aunt Babe actress Annette Badland would be heading for the door alongside the likes of Rita Simons (Roxy Mitchell), Samantha Womack (Ronnie Mitchell), Ellen Thomas (Claudette Hubbard) and Danny-Boy Hatchard (Lee Carter) as Albert Square says goodbye to some familiar faces.
The move comes after Sean O’Connor took over as showrunner from Dominic Treadwell-Collins, becoming executive producer this summer and seemingly jettisoning many cast members.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “The rumours on set are that despite so many cast members leaving, many more will be following them.
“And understandably that has created a lot of concern. Several of the actors are waiting with bated breath, convinced that Sean’s axe will start swinging again.”
Evil Aunt Babe has starred in the BBC soap since 2013 and is reportedly due to make her exit in 2017 – but this may not be the last we see of her.
“Prior to living in The Vic, Aunt Babe was seen coming and going from The Square with her own life away from Walford,” a BBC source told the Sun.
“She will still very much be in the wings and could well continue to cause aggro for the Carter family.”
