The football season brings so much that is worthy of the term ‘art’. A long-range goal, a piece of skill or a particularly well-timed tackle are all worthy of an intake of breath.
But let’s not kid ourselves – the beautiful game is full of ugly happenings too. However, that is not to say they don’t offer equal entertainment, as Crawley Town proved this weekend.

The clip is from Crawley Town v Accrington Stanley in League Two and quite frankly we’re not sure how the ball stayed out of the net.
Talk about charmed goalposts, these seemed positively bewitched as Stanley managed to boot the ball everywhere but into the goal. And that’s only half the story as Stanley failed to net down the other end as well…

The game finished goalless, and with finishing like that, we’re not at all surprised.
