Hunger Games actress Natalie Dormer will join an all-star panel to discuss the future of women on screen and, in her own words, “whether women are really getting their due in Hollywood and beyond”.

Natalie will be joined on the panel by Empire magazine’s editor-in-chief, Terri White, Belle director Amma Asante and Downton Abbey actress Cara Theobold.

She said: “Last year seemed like a good one for women in cinema, with Imperator Furiosa burning across the desert and Rey taking up position at the heart of Star Wars.

“But what does the future hold? And are women really getting their due in Hollywood and beyond?

“Fewer than 20% of major films have female film leads, only 6% of Hollywood blockbusters have female directors and you’re still almost twice as likely to hear a man speak on the big screen as a woman.”

The panel is part of the annual Empire Live event, which runs from September 23 to September 25, and will see the film magazine hosting exclusive screenings of upcoming movies, as well as question and answer sessions with a host of big stars.

The opening night of the event will see fans getting a double bill of Daniel Radcliffe, with gala screenings of his two movies, Swiss Army Man and Imperium.

The magazine’s editor-in-chief Terri said: “We’re thrilled to have Natalie join us on the Women on Screen panel – not only is she one of Britain’s most in-demand actresses, but she also brings a unique insight into the worlds of both film and television with recent high-profile projects including The Hunger Games, The Forest and Game Of Thrones.”
