A baby familiar to generations of American parents has turned 90. Ann Taylor Cook, the face of the Gerber baby food company celebrated her 90th birthday Sunday. Cook was four months old in 1927 when a family friend sketched her likeness. That drawing was later entered into a contest when the baby food maker put out a call for images to be used in its commercials. In 1931, Cook’s picture became the official company trademark. Despite her face appearing on products around the world, Cook led a quiet life, raising four kids while teaching literature and writing in Tampa, Florida, for 26 years. She retired in 1989. The company says there was widespread belief that the Gerber baby was actually someone famous such as actress Jane Seymour. Cook was revealed as the baby in 1978.
