While many have had their eyes firmly fixed on the supposedly seismic clash in Manchester, up in Scotland the big derby has been an epic goalfest.

Meanwhile North of the border, Celtic are giving Rangers a real spanking.

Forgot how good it felt to destroy this team. Time to crack open a beer. It may be 5am in LA, but its 1:30pm in Glasgow. #OldFirmDerby

An absolute pumping…. I said 2-1. I expected Rangers to step up a bit. They didn't and that was humiliating. Plan A didn't work ….⚽️

Unfortunately for Rangers fans, those goals were largely Celtic’s as they dominated the Old Firm derby 5-1.

Celtic’s Moussa Dembele took home the match ball (Andrew Milligan/PA)

Moussa Dembele scored a hat-trick, the first Celtic player to do so against the new Rangers.

Congratulations to @MDembele_10 on becoming first player in Celtic history to score a hat-trick against the new Rangers.

Some thought Rangers’ Joey Barton had a game he would rather forget, particularly given his claim he could be the best player in Scotland when he signed this summer.

@Joey7Barton how's bossing the Scottish league working out for ye #OldFirmDerby

— Shane O'Doherty (@shaneod10) September 10, 2016

Where's Joey Barton now then? Still giving it the bigguns is he? He has never been a patch on Scott Brown! #Celtic

Barton, seen smiling here, has said he is a Celtic fan in the past, so might not be totally unhappy with the result (Andrew Milligan/PA)

Meanwhile others think Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers must be over the moon.

FULL-TIME: Celtic 5-1 Rangers.

Whichever side you were cheering for in the Old Firm derby though, remember it’s just football – right?

If these two can get along and enjoy today then so can y'all. 💚💙#OldFirm pic.twitter.com/yDDegurhIa
