Marcus Rashford struck a stoppage-time winner to sink battling Hull 0-1 as Manchester United maintained their 100% start in the Premier League under Jose Mourinho.
The United teenager, a second-half replacement for Juan Mata, turned home Wayne Rooney’s slide-rule pass for the only goal of the game in the second minute of time added on to finally break Hull’s brave resistance and send the newly-promoted club to their first defeat of the season.
Last-minute victory? Fans had a sneaky suspicion ‘Fergie Time’ had something to do with it…

But what exactly is ‘Fergie Time’?
For those who aren’t aware, there is actually a theory amongst football fans that there’s an extra helping of added time when Man United are losing.
This goes all the way back to Ferguson’s days with the Red Devils, when non-Man Utd accused the manager of getting more added time to score that all-important final goal than other football teams (there’s no evidence to back this!).
In an interview with Clare Balding on BT Sport’s Clare Balding Meets, Ferguson appeared to reveal the secret, saying it was “just a little trick”.
When asked about his team’s regular last-minute successes, he said: “That’s why I used to go with my watch.
“But I never looked at my watch. Honestly. I didn’t know how many minutes but it gets across to the opponents and the referee. It was just a little trick.”
