Danny Dyer’s wedding day didn’t end exactly as planned for his mum, Christina, who returned to find her house on fire – reportedly started by a malfunctioning light used to grow £30,000 worth of weed in her loft.

A 29-year-old man who was with Christina when she came back was held for alleged cultivation of the drug, with an onlooker saying police carried 120 3ft plants from the Canning Town council house.

“She ran round the corner shouting, ‘Oh my God, what’s happened? The snakes, the snakes’. I don’t know if she keeps reptiles or was referring to someone’s actions,” a neighbour told The Sun.

The man is believed to be a family friend, the same neighbour said, and the Met Police say he’s been bailed until late November.

It took four fire engines and 50 minutes to tackle the blaze and Christina, an English teacher, could now face eviction from the east London property.

“We need to find out more about the tenant and if she is liable,” housing company Pinnacle said.
