Christopher Biggins’ removal from the Celebrity Big Brother house for “unacceptable language” sparked 86 complaints to Ofcom.

Viewers raised concerns about Biggins’ removal from the competition given the behaviour of other housemates but the watchdog will not investigate because it was not aired on television.

Some 213 complaints were made about the Channel 5 reality show over the weekend.

Biggins was removed from the house following three warnings from Big Brother for his remarks on bisexuality and for a comment about gas chambers made to X Factor reject Katie Waissel, who is Jewish.

One complaint was made that Biggins’ latter comment was not aired, and Ofcom is not able to consider complaints about material which is not broadcast.

Biggins’ comments about bisexuality prompted four complaints to the regulator.

Some 21 complaints were lodged about the violent behaviour of Ex On The Beach star Stephen Bear, and a further 24 were made accusing him of bullying other housemates over a number of episodes.

General bullying on the show prompted 18 complaints, while 22 people accused Marnie Simpson and Lewis Bloor of bullying Heavy D.

Footage of Aubrey O’Day spitting in Bear’s mouth sparked 14 complaints.

A spokesman for Ofcom said: “We have received 213 complaints about Celebrity Big Brother over the weekend. We will assess these complaints before deciding whether to investigate or not.”
