American singer Anastacia is the tenth celebrity to join the Strictly Come Dancing line-up.

She announced her dancing debut on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2.

Her debut song I’m Outta Love became an international hit when it was released in 2000.

Chris slipped up on air by saying “two thirds” of her full name too early on in his show, while teasing the announcement.

Anastacia, 47, said that while she is at home singing on stage, dancing will be a new challenge for her.

She said: “I am not a dancer, I am looking forward to having fun doing something I have never done before.”

The Left Outside Alone singer admitted she has always been a fan of the BBC dancing show.

“I have always been a fan of this TV show and admired each contestant year after year. I have seen many people have a positive experience on this show,” she said.

She has spoken publicly about her battle with breast cancer, having been diagnosed twice since 2003.

In her official Strictly statement she explained: “After my double mastectomy, it stripped away a part of me that I feel I would like to find again.

“I have always been a fan of this TV show, admired each contestant year after year. This opportunity has come at a perfect time to help me use and get to know my upper body again.”
