Even if you don’t follow women’s football, you probably know all about United States goalkeeper Hope Solo.

The 35-year-old received a six-month suspension and had her contract terminated after describing Sweden, who beat the USA in the Rio Olympics, as a “bunch of cowards”.

Now it turns out her reaction to that decision last week was caught on camera.

The moment was filmed as part of a Fullscreen documentary series called Keeping Score.

Meanwhile, Solo has decided to bring a premature end to her season with her club side, the Seattle Reign.

She said: “Coming to terms with the fact I was fired from the US women’s national team after 17 years of service has been devastating.

“After careful consideration, I have decided to end my season with the Seattle Reign, an organisation I love playing for. Mentally, I am not there yet.”
