Brock Lesnar was drug tested multiple times in the build up to UFC 200 and tested positive for the banned substance hydroxy-clomiphene, an anti-oestrogen agent, in two of them.
The former UFC heavyweight champion has now been suspended temporarily by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC), the first step in the adjudication process with a formal hearing also expected to take place, according to MMA Fighting.
Lesnar beat Mark Hunt by unanimous decision at UFC 200, with the positive test results only coming back after the fight. The UFC decided not to fine Lesnar after the results came in, allowing him to keep the $2.5 million purse he won, while the WWE also decided no punishment was necessary and allowed Lesnar to take part in their most recent pay-per-view event SummerSlam.
But the 39-year-old now faces a potential two-year suspension from both the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) and the NAC. Speaking to TMZ recently he didn’t sound hopeful about his chances of getting back in the Octagon.
“This has been a bumpy road. I’m gonna get through this alright. And there will be a day, maybe, that they’ll see me back in the Octagon.”
UFC 200 was Lesnar’s first fight in the competition for five years after retiring back to the WWE, where his career started, when he lost his heavyweight title and suffered back-to-back losses.
