James Corden is in talks to bring his hit US programme The Late, Late Show to the UK, according to his co-host Reggie Watts.
The British funnyman has won plaudits since taking over the late-night talk show in America, with his Carpool Karaoke segments attracting tens of millions of views on YouTube.
Reggie, the house band leader on The Late, Late Show, said discussions had been held about filming the programme in the UK for a short stint.
Speaking at the Emmys in Los Angeles, Reggie told the Press Association: “I think (James) is always going to have a strong association to the UK.
“I love the UK. We’re thinking of maybe, possibly bringing the show there. Just for fun for a couple of shows.
“I keep mentioning it. Who knows if it will happen. I think that would be absolutely wonderful.”
The Late, Late Show was nominated for an Emmy for outstanding variety talk show but lost out to John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight.
Reggie said he was “not totally surprised” at the success of the programme, which was previously hosted by Scottish comedian Craig Ferguson.
He said: “James is such a good personable person and he has so much talent, that if it’s framed right, of course it’s going to be great.”
The Late, Late Show is shown in the UK on Sky One, a day after being broadcast on CBS in America.
