Amanda Bynes has made a return to social media by posting a series of messages on Twitter, following a six-month absence.

The former child star, whose troubles in recent years have been well-documented, took to her old page under the handle @amandabynes to reassure her fans that she is doing well and working on educating herself in the fashion industry.

Hi everybody! I haven't tweeted in a long time and I want to say hi! I've been really busy at FIDM, and I just finished my midterms.

I am really loving school and I feel that I am learning a lot. I enjoy all of my classes and my teachers are excellent.

I'm really appreciative of all that FIDM is giving me. I've been in school learning about the fashion business so I don't have time to tweet

The What A Girl Wants star, 30, explained how she is studying at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles, getting her head down after reportedly enrolling at the school a few years ago.

Amanda has 3.4 million Twitter followers, and she made sure to tell them that it was definitely her tweeting via the verified account and that other pages bearing her name are fakes.

FYI, this Twitter account is the only communication media that I am using.

No other Twitter accounts or websites are mine! I only have this one.

I don't know why some people use my photos or try to pose as me, but they do.

— amanda bynes (@amandabynes) August 24, 2016

Please don't be confused or believe any of them.

This is me! The verified, real, authentic and actual Amanda Bynes. Accept no substitutes!

— amanda bynes (@amandabynes) August 24, 2016

I really wish Twitter would take the account in question down, I'm not sure why they are refusing to do so.

Amanda has shunned the limelight in recent years after officially retiring from acting in 2012.

She’s had a list of legal issues, including being arrested and charged for driving under the influence and getting in trouble for the criminal possession of marijuana.

She was also ordered to have counselling after she allegedly threw a glass bong out of a Manhattan window in 2013.

Her parents confirmed she had entered a rehab facility in 2013 and was being treated for mental illness.

Over the years, Amanda became known for her bizarre Twitter rants, including one in which she asked rapper Drake to “murder my vagina”.

The last post Amanda made before her reappearance was in February, as she showed off a new haircut.
